Idaho State University’s Preparatory Piano Program celebrates 10-year anniversary with new Steinway piano
Idaho State University's Preparatory Piano Program – which has received rave reviews by both its students and instructors – is celebrating its 10th anniversary with the purchase and use of a Steinway piano.
The Steinway piano was purchased with assistance from the Bistline Foundation, which provided a $7,000 grant. The other half of the cost was covered by fees collected by the teachers in the Preparatory Piano Program. (more…)
Idaho State University civil/environmental engineering department receives $190,000 for Highway Transportation training of women and minority students
Idaho State University Professors Bruce Savage and Arya Ebrahimpour of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering have received $190,577 from the Federal Highway Administration for a project titled “Highway Transportation Training of Women and Minority Civil Engineering Students.”
This project involves partnership with the Idaho Transportation Department. The ISU professors will work with Ed Bala, ITD District 5 engineer, and Michelle George, ITD senior human resource specialist, to complete this project. (more…)
A new residence wasn't the only surprise Jane Marshall-Spreier and her children received on Aug. 24 when they arrived back to their new home, built courtesy of efforts by ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” and the Pocatello community.

The first exhibition of fall 2010 at the Idaho State University John B. Davis Gallery is "Idaho Markings as Narrative: The Woven Form" by ISU art professor Rudy Kovacs.

The Idaho State University Department of Athletics has received NCAA Certification with one condition, announced the NCAA Division I Committee on Athletics Certification on Thursday.
The committee today released the certification status of seven Division I member institutions that have completed the Association’s athletics certification process.
"We are pleased to see certification in 33 out of 34 items required by the NCAA, and yet we are still dedicated to completing the last item on our journey towards certification," said Jeffrey Tingey, ISU Athletic Director.
The 28th annual "I Love ISU" campaign for Idaho State University academic scholarships is off and running and will feature callers in Blackfoot, Idaho Falls and Pocatello.
The Blackfoot volunteer calling campaign will be held Aug. 25; the Idaho Falls volunteer calling campaign is Sept. 13; and the Pocatello and American Falls volunteer calling campaign will run Sept. 20-23.

Citing "impressive changes" made at the Idaho Museum of Natural History in the last year, the American Association of Museums has awarded the Museum full accreditation.
The accreditation lasts through 2023. The Idaho Museum of Natural History meets American Association of Museums standards in all areas. (more…)
Idaho State University, City of Pocatello/Zoo, Idaho Department of Fish and Game sign MOU to increase collaboration
It's for the grizzly bears at the Pocatello Zoo and so much more. On Tuesday, Aug. 17, Idaho State University, the City of Pocatello/Pocatello Zoo and the Idaho Department of Fish and Game signed a Memorandum of Understanding that formalizes and aims to increase the collaboration on a variety of fronts between the three entities.
"The Memorandum of Understanding formalizes the many cooperative efforts weve all been involved in for years," said Idaho State University President Arthur Vailas. “Beyond this, it provides the framework for us to expand the educational and research collaboration between ISU, the Pocatello Zoo and the Idaho Department of Fish and Game, potentially greatly expanding its scope." POCATELLO — Idaho State University’s tenth annual ISU Part-Time Job Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 24 in Room 130, Suites A-C in the Rendezvous Complex.
