Idaho State University Native Americans United to hold annual powwow, fun run April 2-3

Native Americans United (NAU), an Associated Students of Idaho State University student organization, is dedicated to sharing and diversifying the ISU community by hosting its annual Spring Powwow April 2-3.

ISU Japanese Night set April 10 in Pond Student Union

The Idaho State University Japanese Club will present the sixth annual ISU Japanese Night from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.  Saturday, April 10, in the Pond Student Union Ballroom.

 The event will be a celebration of cherry blossom season in Japan and feature a fun evening with the sounds, sights, smells and food of Japan.  (more…)

ISU Jazz Bands to perform concert April 2

The Idaho State University Jazz Band I and Jazz Band II will present a concert on Friday, April 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the Joseph C. and Cheryl H. Jensen Grand Concert Hall in the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center.

Jazz I director will be Patrick Brooks, ISU director of bands. Kevin York, ISU associate director of bands, will direct Jazz II. (more…)

Idaho State University continues “Be Advised” campaign for students

Idaho State University is continuing its “Be Advised” campaign to encourage students to reap the benefits of good advising prior to registering for fall classes in April.

“Advising is the cornerstone of a successful experience at Idaho State University,” said JoAnn Hertz, director of ISU academic advising. “Interaction with departmental faculty who are experts in their field provides an advantage to any student who seeks it.”

The campaign by the ISU Division of Enrollment Management directs students on how to best pursue the information they need to progress towards attaining their chosen degree program. (more…)

Idaho State University dance faculty, students honored at regional conference

“Push,” a solo dance choreographed by Joséphine A. Garibaldi, director of dance at Idaho State University and performed by ISU theatre and dance graduate student Bridget Close, was performed in the Northwest Regional American College Dance Festival Association (ACDFA) Gala concert in late March.

This dance piece was selected by renowned dance artists Ze’eva Cohen of Princeton University, Adam Sklute, artistic director of Ballet West, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Helanius Wilkins, artistic director of Edgeworks, Washington, D.C.Push” was also named as the Second Alternate selection for the prestigious National ACDFA Gala Concert at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. “Push” was selected from a pool of 40 dance works submitted by 23 universities. Lecture “Mormon Families Since World War II”: The Idaho State University Women's Studies Program will present this lecture by noted Mormon scholar Jan Shipps at 7:30 p.m. March 31 in Goranson Hall in the ISU Fine Arts Building. Shipps, an award-winning professor emeritus of history and religious studies in the Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) School of Liberal Arts, is a popular lecturer as well as seminar leader. Idaho State University English Professor Jennifer Attebery selected as Fulbright Distinguished Chair

Jennifer Eastman Attebery, professor of English and director of the folklore program at Idaho State University, has been awarded the Fulbright Distinguished Chair in American Studies at Uppsala University in Uppsala, Sweden.

The Distinguished Chair position is co-hosted by the Swedish Institute for North American Studies and Uppsala University’s Department of English. (more…)

Idaho State University nuclear engineering department selected for second experiment at INL facility

The Idaho State University Department of Nuclear Engineering has been selected to conduct a second nuclear energy experiment in the Idaho National Laboratory’s Advanced Test Reactor National Scientific User Facility.

Idaho State University is one of only three universities in the nation to have been selected to do two experiments at the ATR facility in a nationally competitive research program.  The number of universities conducting nuclear energy experiments in Idaho National Laboratory's one-of-a-kind research reactor has now reached an even dozen and they’re completing 15 total experiments.
