ISU Indian Night set Oct. 17 in Pond Student Union Ballroom

The Idaho State University Association of Indian Students will host Indian Night on Saturday, Oct. 17, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the ISU Pond Student Union Ballroom.

The theme of this year’s event is “Showcasing the Festivals of India,” and will feature authentic Indian food, and a variety of events highlighting Indian culture. (more…)

Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony to be performed in Jensen Hall on Nov. 6

Ludwig van Beethoven’s monumental Ninth Symphony, with its transformative “Ode to Joy” choral ending, will be performed by the Idaho Falls Symphony and the 160 voices of the Camerata Singers and the Idaho State University Concert Choir on Friday, Nov. 6, at 7:30 p.m. in the Joseph C. and Cheryl H. Jensen Grand Concert Hall of the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center in Pocatello. (more…)

24th annual ISU Choral Festival Concert set Oct. 10; prep choirs from around the state to attend

The 24th annual Idaho State University Choral Festival concert will be presented at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10 in the Joseph C. and Cheryl H. Jensen Grand Concert Hall.

The festival runs Oct. 9 and 10 for participating high schools.

Scott Anderson, ISU director of choral activities announced that more than 400 high school singers from around the state of Idaho will spend two days on the campus of ISU working with guest conductor Leslie Guelker-Cone. (more…)

Idaho State University awarded more than $8.2 million in September for 16 federal research grants

September was an unprecedented month for Idaho State University, which landed 16 federal research grants representing more the $8.2 million in research funding.

“The grants awarded demonstrate the national competitiveness and prominence of our faculty and their research groups in our core university missions of energy development and health care, as well our environmental and social science studies,” said Pamela Crowell, ISU vice president for research. “It was an amazing month for ISU research funding.” (more…)

Idaho State University Rupp debate team ranked 18th in nation

The season’s first Cross Examine Debate Association/National Debate Tournament coach’s poll is out and Idaho State University’s James M. and Sharon E. Rupp debate team is ranked 18th in the nation. The team started the season several weeks ago with strong showings at its first two tournaments.

 “We’re excited about the coaches' poll,” said Sarah Partlow, ISU’s director of debate, “but we’re even more excited about the team’s early performance. We’ve really started out strong this year.”    


ISU College of Pharmacy to provide free flu vaccines to first 50 guests at open house

In conjunction with American Pharmacist Month, the Idaho State University College of Pharmacy faculty, students and staff will provide flu vaccinations, free of charge, to the first 50 guests who register for adult flu shots during the Pharmacy Open House, slated for Friday, Oct. 9, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the College of Pharmacy, 970 S. 5th Ave. in Pocatello.

These shots are a $30 value. Once the 50 free vaccines have been used, Sav-on Pharmacy will provide additional shots for $24.99. H1N1, or swine flu shots will not be offered. (more…)

ISU-Meridian’s Linda Boyd is Idaho’s top Health Care Hero Educator

Idaho State University-Meridian dental hygiene professor Linda Boyd, Ed.D., has been selected Idaho’s top Health Care Hero Educator in the 2009 Health Care Heroes program presented by the  Idaho Business Review newspaper. (more…)
