The 5 Browns open ISU’s “A Season of Note” series on Oct. 8

The 5 Browns, billed as “classical music’s first family of piano virtuosos,” will perform a concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, to open the 2009-10 “A Season of Note” entertainment series.

The concert will be held in the Joseph C. and Cheryl H. Jensen Grand Concert Hall of the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center. (more…)

ISU Rodeo Team opens season Sept. 10-11; Rocky Mountain Regional Sept. 17-19 in Pocatello

Idaho State University Rodeo Team members are headed to the first National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) sanctioned college rodeo of the season this weekend. They will represent ISU during the Southern Utah University rodeo, Friday, Sept. 10, and Saturday, Sept. 11.

This rodeo is one of four NIRA rodeos that ISU team members will compete at this fall. (more…)

Nominations sought for Micron Outstanding Idaho Science Teacher Awards; nomination deadline is Sept. 22

The Idaho State University Department of Physics is requesting nominations for the 2009 Micron Outstanding Idaho Science Teacher Awards.

“Science teachers, as a group, are among the most selfless, hard working, and dedicated public servants,” said ISU physics Professor Steve Shropshire. “These awards are a wonderful opportunity to give exceptional science teachers much deserved recognition.”

The nomination deadline is Sept. 22. (more…)

Holiday card contest open to ISU students; top prize is $1,000 scholarship

Idaho State University undergraduate and graduate students can enter a contest to create the design for this year’s ISU Holiday card. The contest winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship, the runner up a $500 scholarship.

The deadline for entries is Oct. 19 and the winning selection will be announced by Oct. 26. Entrants should try to capture the spirit and beauty of the holiday season, while thematically incorporating ISU. (more…)

ISU Psychology Clinic welcomes new semester; services available

ISU Fall 2009 Reading Project book announced

“Three Cups of Tea: One Man’s Mission to Promote Peace… One School at a Time,” by Greg Mortensen, has been chosen as the book for the Fall 2009 Reading Project at Idaho State University.  

The ISU Reading Project consists of a series of events to encourage reading and stimulate debate among those at ISU and in the community, said project chair Bonnie Frantz. (more…)

ISU Homecoming Parade set Oct. 3; entry deadline is Sept. 25

The Idaho State University Homecoming 2009 Parade at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, in Pocatello will start at the corner of South First Avenue and Center Street, just east of the Center Street Underpass.

From the starting point, the parade will proceed up Center Street to South 15th Avenue, where entries will turn right and continue to the parade’s finish at the Holt Arena parking lot.

Parade entries are due by noon Friday, Sept. 25. After this date a $25 late fee applies. No entries will be accepted after noon Friday, Oct. 2. (more…)

Idaho State University Foundation announces three new members: Moodie, Sayer and Trounson

Idaho State University Foundation has announced three new members to its Board of Directors.

Dennis Moodie, Douglas A. Sayer and Jim Trounson will join the 20-member Board for their upcoming meeting in October.

ISU Vice President for Advancement and Foundation Executive Vice President Kent Tingey said he was pleased that the three new members accepted the posts. (more…)
