CPA examination review course registration underway

Accountants wishing to prepare for the Idaho State Board of Accountancy Certified Public Accountant examination may register now for the annual ISU College of Business CPA examination review course, scheduled to begin May 16.

The course is segmented into four components and consists of 12 Saturday sessions through Aug. 8. (more…)

ISU Jazz Bands perform April 3 at Jensen Grand Concert Hall

ISU Music student and saxophonist Julian Sutherland in rehearsal for the upcoming ISU Jazz Bands concert.The Idaho State University Jazz Band I and Jazz Band II will present an exciting mix of cool and hot jazz in their final performance of the year on Friday, April 3, at 7:30 p.m. in the Joseph C. and Cheryl H. Jensen Grand Concert Hall in the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center. (more…)

Cuban poet, scholar Sacerio-Gari to make presentations at ISU

Cuban poet and scholar Enrique Sacerio-Garí will give three free public presentations on the theme “The Arts in Contemporary Cuba” April 2 and 3 on the Idaho State University Pocatello campus.

Sacerio-Garí’s presentations, which include a lecture, film showing and poetry reading, are sponsored by the ISU Department of Languages and Literatures, which received a mini grant from the Idaho Humanities Council. (more…)

Art of Gender in Everyday Life VI conference set April 2-3

The Idaho State University Anderson Gender Resource Center is pleased to announce The Art of Gender in Everyday Life VI,  a multidisciplinary conference, will take place April 2-3 in the Pond Student Union on the ISU Pocatello campus.

All conference papers will explore the various ways in which gender is crafted, celebrated, endured, deciphered, expressed or, in short, the art of how it is lived on a daily basis. (more…)

Theatre/Dance faculty receive Washington arts grant for SiteWorks 2009

Two faculty members in the Idaho State University Department of Theatre and Dance have received awards from the Washington State Arts Commission, Pierce County Arts Commission and Tacoma Arts Commission in support of SiteWorks 2009, a site-specific dance festival held in Washington.

 Josephine Garibaldi, ISU director of dance, and Paul Zmolek, adjunct dance instructor, received the awards. Garibaldi and Zmolek are the directors of the SiteWorks project in partnership with Washington’s renowned Museum of Glass and the BareFoot Collective.  The dance festival will take place this summer June 11–14. ‘Ms. Mentor’ to keynote ISU Women’s History Month on April 3

The Idaho State University Women’s History Month Committee is pleased to announce the Women’s History Month keynote speaker, Emily Toth  will deliver the lecture “Strong Women and How They Did It” at 7 p.m. April 3 in the Pond Student Union Salmon River Suite.

The speech, sponsored by the Idaho Humanities Council and the ISU Cultural Affairs Committee is free and open to the public. (more…)

Idaho State University to host CEDA Nationals, largest collegiate championship debate tournament

Idaho State University will host the 2009 Cross Examination Debate Association Nationals, the largest collegiate championship debate tournament in the country, March 19-24 on the ISU Pocatello campus.

This event is expected to attract as many as 500 debaters from colleges and universities from throughout the United States. Adding to the prestige of the event is the attendance of teams from Harvard, Emory, George Washington, Gonzaga and Pepperdine universities. (more…)
