Many Idaho high school football coaches are unfamiliar with the signs and symptoms of concussion and are inexperienced in managing instances of mild concussion, concludes a study by Caroline Faure, Ed.D., Idaho State University assistant professor in the Department of Sports Science and Physical Education.
Faure conducted a study to determine if Idaho high school football coaches were acting consistently with regard to experts’ recommendations when it came to managing concussion and determining when a player suffering from a concussion should return to play. (more…)
Wal-Mart announced on Oct. 26 that Caroline Faure, Ed.D., a broadcast technology teacher at Highland High School in Pocatello for the 2006-07 academic year has been named Teacher of the Year in Idaho in the 12th annual Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club State Teacher of the Year program. Faure was honored at a special ceremony at the school, and in her honor the school received a $10,000 grant from the Wal-Mart Foundation.
Faure is now an assistant professor in the ISU Department of Sports Science and Physical Education. (more…)

The Idaho State University Institute of Rural Health will present free public presentations statewide on traumatic brain injury (TBI) in response to high numbers of military personnel coming home suffering such disabilities.
The IRH will present its seventh annual “Veterans with Traumatic Brain Injury VGR Series.” This six-week series of presentations will be telecast throughout Idaho at selected sites from Nov. 1 through Dec. 13. (more…)
