Japanese Pop Concert Fundraiser set Sept. 15

2007 Silver Anniversary ‘I Love ISU’ campaign is Sept. 10-11 in Idaho Falls

The year 2007 marks the 25th anniversary of the “I Love ISU” campaign to raise money for Idaho State University scholarships. The Idaho Falls “I Love ISU” campaign will be Sept. 10-11.

Volunteers from Bonneville, Bingham, Power and Bannock counties annually work the telephones in September to provide ISU scholarships. All money raised in a county goes to scholarships for students from that county. (more…)

Nominations sought for Micron Idaho Science Teacher Awards

26th annual ISU CW HOG Pig Out is Sept. 15

The 26th annual Idaho State University CW HOG Pig Out, a dinner and fundraiser for Idaho State University’s Cooperative Wilderness Handicapped Outdoor Group, is Saturday, Sept. 15, in Lower Ross Park Pavilion.    CW HOG provides outdoor recreational opportunities for individuals with and without disabilities.

The dinner includes barbecued pork, Idaho baked potatoes, corn-on-the-cob, green salad, and the HOGs’ specialty, a vegetarian Dutch-oven dish. Dinner is from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Musical entertainment, featuring U.S. Bluez, the Steel Head Red Band and Shawn Barnaby, will be 4-10 p.m. (more…)

26th annual Pocatello Pump is Sept. 15-16

Although organizers of the Idaho State University Pocatello Pump stress friendly rock climbing for people of all ages, the element of competition is still there.

In its 26th year, the Pump is the oldest bouldering competition in the United States. It takes place on the basalt cliffs of Pocatello’s Ross Park, and runs from 8 a.m. to early afternoon Saturday, Sept. 15. The Pump takes most of the afternoon off so participants can take advantage of the CW HOG Pig Out dinner adjacent to the climbing area.

Climbing resumes Sunday, Sept. 16, at 7 a.m. The awards ceremony is at 6 p.m. (more…)

Formal Academic Investiture Ceremony set Sept. 14; all-community celebration follows

The formal Investiture Ceremony open to all for Idaho State University President Arthur C. Vailas, Ph.D., will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, in Holt Arena.

An all-community barbecue featuring entertainment, academic information and various demonstrations by ISU departments and student groups will be held on the ISU Hutchinson Quadrangle immediately following the Investiture Ceremony. (more…)
