Sophie, a 3-1/2-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback mix, has flown more than 275,000 miles. She also has been a co-leader, in a specific sense, of the Idaho State University Institute of Rural Health, a powerhouse research center under the ISU Kasiska College of Health Professions.
The IRH is led by its director, Dr. Beth Hudnall Stamm, who in turn, is led by the aforementioned Sophie. Without the help from her assistance animal, Stamm could, quite literally, be lost. (more…)

Idaho State University President Arthur C. Vailas is the featured guest on Idaho Public Television’s “Dialogue,” Thursday, June 7, at 8:30 p.m., (7:30 PST).
The program will run 30 minutes, and viewers can call in questions by dialing toll free 1-800-973-9800 during the program.
Vailas is expected to address numerous topics, including ISU’s statewide health-care mission, university research activity, energy development, and the importance of building strong community partnerships.
Dr. Marilyn E. Davis was recently named Dean of the Idaho State University College of Technology, where she has been serving as the interim dean for the College since July 1, 2006.
