Representation
The basis for representation in the Senate is as follows:
The Faculty Senate consists of thirty (30) faculty members representing the colleges, schools and theUniversity Library. In addition, the Senate's Past-Chair, the President of the University, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean of Student Affairs, a Curriculum Council representative, and a Student Senate representative are ex officio, non-voting, members.
Senate seats are apportioned among colleges, schools, and the University Library according to the number of tenure-track faculty positions, both full-time and part-time, in the unit, with each unit receiving at least one seat. The faculty of each college, school, or the University Library with more than one seat determines the internal allocation of those seats among its subunits. At present, Senate seats are apportioned as follows: Arts and Sciences (10); Business (2); Education (2); Engineering (1); Health-Related Professions (6); Pharmacy (2); College of Technology (4); Library (1); and Outreach faculty (2).
The apportionment of seats among colleges, schools, and the University Library is assessed by the Faculty Senate for equity every three years.
