II.    Business

        A. The Council meeting for this week was focused on 'adjunct' non-tenure-track

              positions.  There is still some disagreement on the definition of 'adjunct'.  The

              majority of the council members agree that the title does carry a pejorative or at

              least part-time connotation.  Some council members tried to define "permanent

              non-tenure-positions".   Some important points made at the meeting:

              1.  Suggested names the council discussed were lecturer; senior lecturer;

                  instructor; special instructor; assistant instructor; lab coordinator

              2. It was suggested the council change the wording so it is left up to the

                  individual departments/units to decide what to call these individuals that carry

                   the title 'adjunct' who are permanent non-tenure-track positions.

              3. The council discussed that the change in the title 'adjunct' should only be for

                  individuals who are in a permanent non-tenure-track positions.

        B.  The council discussed the issue throughout the meeting and could not reach an

              agreement on new titles, or if the current titles should be changed.  The council

              will continue with the non-tenure-track topic at the next meeting.
