Action: 10-0-1 of those present. Beard's tabulated votes including the e-mail

Carried.
B.
Discussion
of continuing-non-tenure-tract terminology, ie; adjunct: part to full time;
paid or non-paid; clinical,
teaching or research, with or without attached rank; VS
terminology: visiting,
instructor, affiliate, assistant, or clinical faculty.
a.
It
was suggested that a modifier could be placed with designations already
existing at ISU, for ex.,
“on going adjunct professor”, or “continuing”
adjunct professor.”
b.
Another
suggestion was the use of the bare “instructor” designation with the
prefix “teaching” added to
assistant, associate, and full professor.
c.
Expectation
of a continued or ongoing relationship, in contrast to permanent
was questioned, as well as
the appropriate termination procedure.
d.
We
need to develop a clear definition of continuing non-tenure tract vs.
visiting v. part time. Does
this category require a budget line item?
e.
Resources
to be reviewed by committee members for further study.
Clarification or confusion
to be found in the Faculty and Staff Handbook on
pp 4.3.1 through 4.3.6 and
in Part 4, IV.c.3A.
f.
It
was decided that Alice Ronald would make a presentation at the next
FPPC meeting.

adjourned at 1600 hours.
