FPPC Meeting Minutes January 26, 2001

Present: Beard (Chair), Bhushan, Campbell, Egger, Jacobson, Laquer, Miller, Ronald

Absent: Hatzenbuehler (excused), Hitchcock, Pumphrey (excused)

Guest: Alice Ronald, Department of Chemistry

I. Minutes of January 19, 2000, a vote to approve will be held until the next FPPC

meeting.

II. Business

A. Alice Ronald spoke to FPPC Council about her proposal requesting the name

adjunct be replaced for faculty who are full-time, non-tenure-track positions.

Alice gave a brief history on her position and she answered questions the

council asked about her proposal.

B. Beard had made some suggestions for different titles they could use such as

continuing, instructor. The council agreed that part-time adjunct would remain

the same. The council will come to the next meeting prepared to find a new title

that will fit the full-time, non-tenure-positions.

C. Alice and the council discussed various departments on campus and what most

of the positions like hers were called in these different departments. The

council discussed whether these positions had budget lines or not. The

remainder of the meeting was spent discussing the same topic and the council

made quite a bit of progress on this proposal.
