FPPC Meeting Minutes January 11, 2001

Present: Beard(Chair), Bhushan, Campbell, Egger, Hatzenbuehler, Jacobson, Laquer,

Miller, Pumphrey, Ronald, Watson

Absent: Hitchcock, McWhirter

I. Minutes of December 6, 2000 were approved 7-0-0 with corrections. Will forward

to Faculty Senate for approval.

II. Reports

A. The council discussed a meeting time for this semester and agreed to meet every

Friday from 3:00 to 4:00pm.

III. Business

A. The council reviewed the final draft of the proposal. Hatzenbuehler suggested a few

changes to the current draft and the council agreed with the changes.

Action: Moved by Marie Campbell and seconded by Grace Jacobson to approve

the new proposal and to be put under Annual Review in the Handbook. Council

delayed a final vote until a typed copy could be sent to everyone by email.

B. The council discussed a new issue sent to FPPC council from Executive

Committee on Faculty Appointments - non-tenure track. Pumphrey explained that

the issue had to do with the use of the name "adjunct" for faculty who were permanent,

full-time, non-tenure track. The council needs to make some recommendations on what

these individuals should be called. Hatzenbuehler explained the reason why faculty

members who fit in this particular category were originally given the “adjunct” label.

The council plans to work on recommendations for Faculty Appointments - non-tenure

track during Spring Semester.
