1.  Emeritus Policy – It has been approved by Faculty Senate and sent to

Dr. Wharton and Brad Hall for implementation into the F/S Handbook.

2.      The statement on FPPC has been finalized and given to the Executive

      Council.

II.                 Unfinished Business

A.     Phased Retirement

Discussion was based on which model or models would work for ISU and how to go about instituting a model (s).  Hasenpflug found that benefits will not continue if faculty drop to < 50% time; this stands for all Idaho State agencies.  BSU’s model does not include benefits and the tenure track line is lost from the department in which the faculty member retires.  The estimated cost for every retiree is $16,500 per year ($6,500 for benefits + 20% (60k salary) plus the cost of faculty replacement.

Council members will look into the pros and cons of each of the models found as well as list the essential factors for phased retirement.

Hasenpflug – two models as presented by senate.

Marsh – write essential factors.

Jacobson – look at KU policy.

Olah – look at Texas State policy.

Shaw – look at BSU policy.

Dundas – look at UNC policy.
