Faculty Professional Policies Council Minutes

Present: Anderson, Hasenpflug, Jacobson, Murdock, Rhodes (Chair), Shaw and Smith

Absent: Adamcik (excused), Dunzik-Gouger (excused) and Hatzenbuehler (excused)

 

I.  Business:

                                                                                  

1.      Introductions

2.      Minutes from April 29, 2005 have not been finalized.  Rhodes will send them to the secretary.

3.      Establish rank of Distinguished Professor –

Council members discussed the changes and additions they made at the last meeting regarding a policy for Distinguished Professor.  They agreed: The designation will be highly honorific, and not used as a 5th rank, the nominee must hold the rank of full professor or equivalent terminal rank, the nominee will have national and international recognition, the nominee will have been judged by peers to be outstanding at ISU, there will be a one time monetary award, the nomination should come from Deans, and Faculty Senate will decide on the individuals who become a Distinguished Professor. 

Hasenpflug will prepare the draft policy for further council input. 

4.      Meetings will be held on the third Tuesday of the month at 8:00 am.
