Approval of September
15, 2006 minutes
Action: Moved by Freudenthal and seconded by Manopoulos to
approve the CAC minutes of September 15, 2006.
Passed unanimously.
II.
Mini-grants
2006-2007 –
Doug
Warnock received a mini-grant to fund Yoshitomo Saito, artist, for a cast
copper workshop on October 17, 2006.
Ryan
Watson received a mini-grant to fund Ray Gonzalez for The Hispanic Experience
“Connections” on November 9, 2006.
III.
Steven Barclay –
Elizabeth Kolbert
Kolbert
accepted the invitation to come to ISU on March 1, 2007. She will present “Field Notes from a Catastrophe:
Man, Nature, and Climate Change” in the Bistline Theatre.
IV.
Louie Warren –
A
final date has not yet been set; it will be either April 11 or 12, 2007. Woodworth-Ney will find the forum.
V.
Kevin Marsh –
Michael Pollan as a speaker – The council decided Michael Pollan would be
perfect for the ISU Reading Project.
Freudenthal contacted Bonnie Frantz and the ISU Reading Project; they
will not make a decision until next year.
VI.
Steven Lawyer –
Michael Shermer as a speaker – Shermer is available on April 19, 2007.
Action: Moved and
seconded to invite Shermer to ISU on April 19, 2007. Passed
unanimously.
VII.
New Business
A. There was discussion on when mini-grants are sent out
and due. They will be sent out in
January and are due back by mid-April.
B. There will be an upcoming phone conference between
France and the
C. Kloetzel is working on dates for next year for Doug
Varone and Dancers.
D. There was discussion regarding an exhibit as a
cultural event at ISU.
