Present: Kovacs, Bhushan, Freudenthal, Kloetzel, Manopoulos, Ray, Woodworth-Ney
Absent: Herrman, Richards
I. Approval of May 5, 2006 minutes
Action: moved and seconded to approve CAC minutes of May 5, 2006
Passed unanimously.
II. Discussion of By-laws. Faculty senate has requested CAC and other councils/committees to submit a brief report of CAC’s purview, procedures, etc.
III. Mini-grants. Discussion centered on previous funding activities. Procedures to assist the council in avoiding future problems were discussed. As was the calendar of upcoming events funding by the mini-grant program.
IV. Barry Lopez – council will not pursuit this speaker/artist at this time. Three new speakers were introduced - Elizabeth Kolbert, Robert Hass, Terry Tempest Williams and materials concerning these speakers were handed out to committee members. Rudy will have more information next time to decide on one of these speakers.
V.
Louie Warren - Action: moved and seconded to approve CAC funding of

VI. Brian Norman – African-American poets series. After discussion it was determined that more information is required before action can be taken.
VII. Melanie Kloetzel – Discussions on suggested dance troupes. After discussion it was determined that more information is required before action can be taken.
VIII. New Business: Council discussed the need to nominate and elect a new chair for CAC in January 2007 – to chair the 2007-08 academic year.
