COUNCIL FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING

Present:          Adkison, Dean, Devaud, Devine, Neill, Reis, Reynolds, Sato, Smith (Chair),

Absent:           Bunde, Kunicki, Nuhfer, and Packer (excused)

           

  1. It was established that a quorum was present.  Introduction of members.
  2. Action: It was moved and seconded to approve the Minutes of April 30, 2004 and November 1, 2004, with minor revisions.  Passed unanimously.
  3. Updates :

A.     Classroom renovation project –

Smith, Nuhfer, and Barbara Adamcik met with Dr. Lawson on Wednesday, November 03, 2004.  It was decided that Ed Nuhfer, with two faculty members from the Council, will prepare a report with specific renovation information and design features for the two classrooms by January 2005.  The report will contain specific information on classroom lighting, color, acoustics, furnishings, and instructional technology.

 

Action Item:  The following was moved, seconded, and approved unanimously:

"The Council formally requests the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs to post the "classroom condition survey" to the Faculty-Staff Tools survey site by December 10, 2004."

 

B.  Review of Departmental Annual Assessment reports 

 

The current sub-committee on assessment consists of Smith, Adkison, Dean, and Kunicki.

 

Steve Adkison reported that he has just accepted the position of "Faculty Assessment Coordinator", within the Office of Institutional Research.  In his new position he will work with the Council to determine the role that the Council will play in the Departmental Assessment process.  Given the status of the current Institutional Accreditation process, this process will likely begin after January 12, 2005.

 

C.  A request was made by the Chair for members to send their Spring Semester schedules as soon as possible so that she can find a Spring meeting time.
