COUNCIL FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING

Absent: Montgomery, Plewa, Packer, Reynolds, Wabrek
1. It was established that a quorum was present. The following minutes were approved as submitted:
Minutes of January 25, 2002
Action: Moved by House and seconded by Adkison to approve the minutes of January 25, 2002. Passed unanimously.
Minutes of March 29, 2002
Action: Moved by Sato and seconded by Kunicki to approve the minutes of March 29, 2002. Passed unanimously.
2. Dean welcomed Dr. Stephen Adkison as a new member of the Council for Teaching & Learning.
3. Kunicki handed out final versions of the bylaws approved by Faculty Senate on April 8, 2002 to the members of the committee.
4. Dean met with the General Education Requirements Committee of the Curriculum Council to look into the General Ed Requirements for the University; the committee will see of they are still appropriate. It was stated that a representative from the Council for Teaching & Learning will attend those meetings.
5. Adkison handed a Draft Assessment Template for Goal 1 courses to each member. He stated that the instruments needed already exist, they just need to be adopted.
6. Dr. Ed Nuhfer accepted the position as Director for Teaching & Learning
7. There was discussion that a council can approve of an ad hoc committee under that council. Alyce Sato expressed the need to finish what she had started in the council.
Action: Moved by Adkison and seconded by Dean that a new ad hoc committee headed by Sato be made under the Council for Teaching & Learning. Passed unanimously.
8. Election of Council for Teaching & Learning Chair for 2002-2003
Action: Moved by Sato and seconded by McKnight to nominate Adkison for Chair of the Council for Teaching & Learning for 2002-2003. Passed unanimously.
