II. Business
A. Introduction – Patricia Dean opened the first meeting of Fall Semester 2001 and
introductions were made at this time.
B. Patricia Dean will check the Bylaws of the Council for Teaching and Learning and find out how it functions. When Jennifer Attebery was Chair she made it clear that it was advisory only.
C. The council decided to create a subcommittee of the Council for Teaching and
Learning.
Action:
Moved by McKnight and seconded by Sato to create a subcommittee of the Council
for Teaching and Learning to look at goals, purpose, history and to restructure
the council. Motion carried.
The discussion on the subcommittee is to work on goals, streamline assessment. The appointment to the committee are Cathy Kunicki, David Squires and Malinda Reynolds.
Phil and Janet will set the date and times for the scholarships.
D. Meeting dates for the Council of Teaching and Learning:
Action: Moved by Kruger and seconded by Reynolds to moving the meeting time to 11:30 am to 12:30 pm. Motion carried.
The next two meetings will be held in the Faculty Senate Conference Room on October 26 and November 30, 2001.
E. Janet House presented her Progress Report for the Center for Teaching and
Learning. The report will be attached with the minutes for review.
House briefly summarized and discussed her Progress Report with the council.
In the report it gives dates of meetings to get some ideas of faculty needs. It
also list dates of workshops and orientations being held by the Center for
Teaching and Learning.

Action: The motion to adjourn was moved, seconded and carried.
