I. PRELIMINARIES

 A. Attendance: Bobbie Hyde, Ernie Naftzger, Scott Evans, Darrell Buffaloe, Bill Vaughn, Betty Peterson for Melissa Neiers, Dona Bell.

Excused: Bob Pearce
Guests: Scott Campbell, Jana Sparks

II. OLD BUSINESS

A. ACTION: Moved and seconded that the minutes from October 22, 1997, be approved.  CARRIED.

B. Update On Tree Planting

The tree planting was approved by Darrell. Scott called Rick Williams to let him know and requested that Rick contact him when they were ready to proceed. Scott has not heard from Rick since the initial contact to let him know of the approval. Ernie reported that he has spoken to Rick and that there has been some family crisis which delayed the tree planting until next spring.

C. Sidewalk Decoration

Jana Sparks reported that she has been unable to make contact with David Lowry regarding the banners. She will continue to try contacting David and will report to the Council at the next meeting.

D. Campus Update

Darrell reported on projects that are in process on campus, they are as follows:

Idaho Falls Student Union Building, final copy of plans received. The building will accommodate 6 vendors, eating and study area, reception area, 2 offices, bookstore, and Outdoor Rental area. There will also be parking for an additional 120 vehicles.

Accelerator Building - to be built in the Research Park area and to be completed by August of 1998.

Leonard Hall Addition - to be completed by March 1998. Physical Science Renovation - this is not high on the Board of Education's priority list but still a possibility.

Plant Science classroom - 100 seat classroom to be added to accommodate the Biology 120 class.

Ridgecrest - housing unit is complete and students have moved in already. Units are full.

Garrison Hall renovation - Garrison Hall is being renovated to meet the needs of expanding academic programs. Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy will be the first ones moved into the building, this will be the 3rd and 4th floor areas. Future expansion plans are for Counseling on the 5th floor and Psychology on the 6th floor.

Davis Field - shower and locker room area will be added in the future to accommodate the women's soccer team.

 III. New Business

A. Council Members

Bobbie has made the appropriate contact to have the faculty positions that are currently vacant on the Council filled. Ernie will check with ASISU to get a student member appointed to the Council.

IV. NEXT MEETING

The next meeting was tentatively scheduled for February 11, 1998, at 4:00 p.m. in the Snake River Room.
