Care I (3 cr.)
REAL-TIME:

Semester length course. Prereq: 1 year of Spanish or equivalent. Credit

ONLINE.
Students may take
this course in the first or second 8 week terms.
Vocabulary building and Aural Comprehension
self-study. Verifying Patient information, symptoms, medical history,
history
of present illness. Grade, S/U, Audit. Best for students with one year
or
equivalent experience with Spanish language. Doesn’t matter
how or where you

SPAN 4495: Spanish for Diabetes
Management (1 cr.)
HYBRID
(online preparation +
one 1 day Saturday Workshop in both Pocatello and Meridian/Boise,
Graded S/U):
Online, students learn Spanish necessary to complete a typical
encounter
between provider and diabetic patient. Students also inform themselves
about
diabetes in the US Latino Community from both clinical and cultural
perspectives. Only 1st 8 week term.
Best
for students with one year or equivalent experience with Spanish
language.

SPAN 4495: Spanish for Oral
Health (1 cr.)
HYBRID
(online preparation +
one 1 day Saturday Workshop in both Pocatello and Meridian/Boise,

2nd eight-week term only. Online, students learn Spanish necessary to
complete
a typical encounter between dental care provider and Spanish-speaking
patient.
Students also inform themselves about oral care in the US Latino
Community from
both clinical and cultural perspectives. Best for students with one

equivalent experience with Spanish language. Graded S/U.
