Exceptions to the Refund Policy
Generally speaking, refund decisions are final. However, in select circumstances, exceptions to the refund policy are considered.
Reasons to Appeal for a Refund
- Medical Withdrawal
- Serious Illness / Injury of Immediate Family Member
- Death of Immediate Family Member (Spouse, Child, Parent, etc.)
- University Error
How to File an Appeal
To appeal a refund decision the student must either write a letter or send an email to the appeals committee and attach any relevant supplemental information. The letter or email should be addressed to Lisa Leyshon, University Assistant Controller and should include the following information:
- Your Name
- Your ISU Student ID Number or Social Security Number
- Current Address
- Current Phone Number
- Session You Withdrew From
- Reason for Withdrawal
- Reason for Appeal
- Medical Documentation (if applicable)
- Any Other Pertinent Information / Documentation (in the case of death of immediate family member, include a copy of the death certificate or obituary)
The Refund Appeals Committee meets regularly to consider appeals to refund decisions. Once the appeal has been considered, a letter declaring the Committee's decision will be sent to the student.
