Financial Aid

Alternative Loans

Before applying for alternative loans, you are strongly encouraged to apply for federal student aid at Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Please review the suggested "Questions student borrowers might pose" with the lender before making a decision.

Below is a list of lenders which offer loans for students to help supplement college costs not covered by the Federal Financial Aid Program. Idaho State University does not have any Preferred Lender arrangements with any private loan originators. This list does not include all lenders. It is a compilation of lenders who have worked with ISU students in the past and any lenders who have requested to be listed. We do not recommend one lender over another. We will work with any alternative lender you choose. This is just a starting point.

Caution: Ask for a Loan Disclosure Statement from the lender for the loan you are considering.

NEW REQUIREMENT

A new federal alternative loan requirement states a lender must obtain a self-certification signed by the applicant before disbursing a private education loan. Before signing, carefully read the entire Private Education Loan Applicant Self-Certification Form including the definitions and other information on the page. Return the signed form to your chosen lender. To complete the Self-Certification you will need the "Cost of Attendance" information.

Lenders List

See the following Lender links. This is not a "perferred lenders" list, as we will work with any alternative lender you choose.
