Buildings
ISU has made several improvements to 40 academic & housing buildings on campus.
- Low-flow water devices: Low-flow faucet aerators and low-flow toilets have been installed in 39 buildings on the Pocatello campus, saving the University approximately 24,500,000 gallons of water per year and annul utility cost savings of about $79,000.
- Scheduling HVAC Building Controls: ISU built heating, ventilation and air conditioning controls in 36 buildings that have been rescheduled to provide energy conservation and to save on utility costs through efficient energy use in the heating and cooling of buildings. HVAC systems operate fewer hours saving ISU 1,800,000 kilowatt-hours and $68,500 annually.
- Lighting Upgrades: Lighting upgrades have been completed in 40 buildings using more energy efficient fluorescent bulbs and electronic ballasts. These upgrades were performed under the aforementioned Energy Savings Performance Contract with Chevron Energy. These efforts earned a lighting rebate of $24,000 from Idaho Power Company under its Industrial Incentive Program. These energy efficient measures are estimated to save ISU 1,460,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity and $67,650 annually.
