TIGERi: Preparing for BengalWeb & HR/Payroll Banner Implementation

As more than one hundred ISU staff continue to work on the implementation of the Banner administrative computer system, it is important to remember that this change will affect everyone on campus. To facilitate a smooth transition for employees, managers across campus attended a special TIGERi Pre-Go-Live Strategies for Managers workshop last week specifically designed to help them prepare their employees for a successful BengalWeb & HR/Payroll Banner implementation.

The TIGERi Pre-Go-Live Strategies for Managers workshop outlined new feature that TIGERi will offer and gave attendees a close-up look at some of those that will soon be released. Additional topics of discussion were strategies and tools for maximizing the benefits of implementation, managing change, encouraging employees, communicating change, and maintaining a positive attitude.

Starting December 1, 2008, many new features will be accessed by all employees who will begin using Idaho State University’s new portal,
Bengal
Web
(a new web site that will become the “point of entry” to online activity). On the same date, most employees who currently fill out time sheets will begin entering their time online through BengalWeb. Employees who enter time using a time clock (or if you’ve been told you won’t be doing web time entry for another reason) will still want to take advantage of the other features BengalWeb has to offer EVERYONE.  A sleek, user-friendly interface will provide:

The TIGERi project will change the way everyone interacts with the university, requiring patience and perseverance to make this implementation a success.  College deans, associate and assistant deans, directors, and managers play a crucial role in leading change efforts and in helping their employees understand change and how to effectively deal with the transition. Many people in these roles have been working on TIGERi teams and participating in the implementation in a variety of ways.
