Get the Most Out of YOUR BengalWeb Experience:
Usability Evaluation
Starting December 1, 2008 all employees will begin using Idaho State University’s new portal, BengalWeb (a new web site that will become the “point of entry” to online activity). Recently, a BengalWebusability study was conducted to measure the portal’s ease-of-use from an employee perspective and help users “get the most” out of their BengalWeb experience.
Usability testing is a commonly used tool, which provides web designers with critical information about what works and does not work well from an employee or end user perspective. Results from usability studies provide web designers with guidance regarding effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction.
University employees volunteered to participate in the BengalWeb usability study conducted at ISU’s Instructional Technology Resource Center (ITRC). Each participant was given the same instructions and asked to complete a variety of tasks designers wanted typical users to be able to perform within BengalWeb.
Feedback from this study provided BengalWeb designers and team members with helpful recommendations in terms of navigation, product quality and design, and suggestions to enhance employee satisfaction from an end user’s perspective. Catching problems during the developmental phase helps designers improve BengalWeb functionality and design, and increase end user productivity. Ultimately, the feedback will help end users “get the most” out of their BengalWeb experience.
Join all employees on December 1, 2008, and begin exploring BengalWeb so YOU can take full advantage of all its online features!
