Banner Upgrade to Version 8:
Offers New and Exciting Features
Banner software, which powers the integrated TIGERi system, received a highly anticipated upgrade to version 8 in June. Members of the technical team upgraded the current Banner system from version 7 to version 8. Behind the scenes enhancements and functionality have been designed to improve productivity and performance. A few of the new and exciting features are highlighted below with more developments to follow.
Faculty Load and Compensation
- The ability to configure and automate calculations for faculty compensation based on new rules and workload defined within Banner.
Grant Management
- The ability to calculate grant-related salary encumbrances within a fiscal year, across fiscal years, or for multiple years.
- The ability to identify grant-related time and effort distribution on employee time sheets.
- The ability to automate and gather all related grant documents in one secure location during the development process.
Travel and Expense Management
- The ability to provide a single automated system of record that will maintain all travel and expense activity for ISU including travel authorizations, travel advances, and travel reimbursements.
“Enhancements in faculty load and compensation, grant management, and travel and expense management plus many other capabilities will benefit faculty, students and staff—OUR customers—by providing more efficient service and access to information,” observes David Alexander, TIGERi project manager.
The Banner 8 upgrade brings many new and exciting changes that were not available in the past: “With the TIGERi project, ISU is now poised to take advantage of these technology advances by providing excellent service to help ISU remain competitive as well as attracting prospective students.”
