Sylvia Johnson
Associate Lecturer in English
EDUCATION
MA in English (2003), Idaho State University
My parents moved to Pocatello from Sandpoint, Idaho in 1958, when ISU was still a college, so my father could take advantage of the G.I. Bill. His emphases were Psychology and Art, but he chose employment at Westinghouse (INEEL) over completion of his degree. I am the first in my family to earn degrees at ISU: BA and MA in English and a minor degree in Art History. I also certified as a Graphic Artist (photo-typesetting option) at ISU's School of Applied Technology in the early 80s. These were dreams I pursued and achieved through hard work and with the support of my family and friends. I have enjoyed teaching undergraduate composition full-time for ten years now. I also try to assist the University in any capacity I can, demonstrating my gratitude for being included in this exceptional academic community.
