Contact The College of Business Dean's Administrative Assistant ( 208-282-3585) after you signed your contract. You will need a user id and password to log on to class and student information and to enter your mid-term and final grades. The faculty and staff tools provide links to the following information. Once you use your userid and password to log in faculty will find Web Grade Input and Class Lists & Prereq Check in the "My Tools" menu. You may want to explore the other menu items available in the Faculty and Staff Tools after you are familiar with those needed to review your class roll sheets or enter grades. College of Business Data Needs Once you have a computer account at Idaho State University you will also have access to an email account. The support staff will need to know your contact information including your email address and phone numbers. Enrollment Soon after the class begins you will receive a printed copy of your class enrollment. The online version of your class list is available in the Faculty & Staff Tools on the Idaho State University Internet site. The online enrollment forms allow you to print out an up-to-date class list. You may find this helpful since enrollments can change as students drop and add classes. To access the online enrollment information in the Faculty & Staff Tools you will need to enter the index number for your class. The index number for classes is available in the printed or online class schedule for classes. The class schedule indicates where the class meets, the current enrollment
and number of seats still available, when the class meets and whether
or not the class is closes. Before you add students to a closed class
you should contact your department chair to discuss policies and procedures
for adding students. Class Requirements Memo Grading Online Faculty submit grades via Web Grade Input in Faculty and Staff Tools. Midterm grades provide students with feedback about their performance and faculty report only grades of "D" and "F" at midterm. Midterm grades are typically due at the end of the first eight weeks of class and the due date is listed on the official ISU calendar each semester. Midterm grades provide important information to students. As you prepare the calendar of exams and activities for your class you may want to make sure you schedule some graded work prior to midterm so can adequately evaluate students' performance at midterm. Faculty also enter their final grades for the class via the Internet
in the Faculty and Staff Tools. Final grades are typically due no later
than the Monday immediately after finals week. Faculty usually receive
an email or note in their campus mailbox in the department informing them
about the deadline. Incompletes Students occasionally request an incomplete or grade of "I" in a class. Faculty should follow the guidelines for their College and department for issuing a grade of "I." Faculty and students are required to fill out a contract indicating the conditions required to finish the incomplete. A copy of the contract is available for faculty to download. Support Staff is providing a copy of this file at a later date. Textbooks and Ancillary Materials Faculty should contact their department chair to determine the departmental
policy on textbook adoptions. Classes with multiple sections usually use
the same textbook. Decisions about which textbooks to adopt are usually
made by those teaching the class throughout the year. If you are the only
teacher for a particular class you should consult with the department
chair to find out what textbooks were used in the past. Ancillary materials
including an instructor's manual, technology supplements and test banks
are provided are also available to faculty teaching a class. Newspaper and Magazine Subscriptions Special student subscription rates are available for various business
publications including Business Week, The Wall Street Journal and Fortune.
Contact your department chair for information on incorporating newspaper
or magazine subscriptions in your class. Email Access You can access either the College of Business server or the ISU email
system from at home using the Internet. If you encounter problems with
the ISU system, contact the help desk for the ISU computer center. The
College of Business maintains a separate server and email system and you
should contact them at 282-2017 for assistance. Placing Class Materials on the Internet The College of Business maintains an Internet site that includes faculty information and class materials. Currently Beverly Shappart (shapbeve@isu.edu) is available to assist faculty who need to place class handouts or materials on the College of Business Internet site.
