Requirements to Apply for the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program
Degree requirement: A bachelor degree completed or to be completed by summer 2012 with a minimum 3.0 GPA in the last 60 credit hours of course studies.
Prerequisite courses: A minimum 3.0 GPA in the following courses:
Biology*:

| Chemistry*: | Two semesters of general chemistry with corresponding labs (General chemistry for science/health majors, not introduction to chemistry) |
| Physics*: | Two semesters of general physics with corresponding labs (General physics for science/health majors, not introduction to physics) |
| Mathematics: | Statistics |
| Psychology: | Introduction to Psychology Child Development or Adult Development |
| Social Science: | Abnormal Psychology or Introduction to Sociology or Sociocultural Anthropology |
| Medical Terminology: | Medical Terminology (This requirement can be waived by a statement from professor or employer noting competency in medical terminology) |
* These prerequisite courses must have been completed in the past seven years

| TOEFL | International students must complete the TOEFL examination with a total score of 550 (paper based text) or 213 (computer based test) |
| Observation hours: | Minimum 80 hours of physical therapy experience (paid, volunteer, observation/shadow, etc) from at least two different physical therapy settings. Applicants must observe a physical therapist, not an aid or assistant. |
| Letters of Recommendation/Reference | You need 3 letters of recommendation. Two letters MUST be from physical Therapists who have observed your experience. One letter MUST come from a professor, instructor or an advisor. |
* ISU will only accept GRE and MAT scores from tests taken within the past five years.
