Professional Activities
Dr. Urfer is the Professional Relations Chair of Idaho Physical Therapy Association and has served on the Idaho Practice Act Task Force since 1997. He is the director of the Idaho State Emergency Medical Service Surgical Procedure Laboratory certification program and serves as the consultant to the State Hospital Life Flight Medical programs. He serves as a book reviewer for the American Physical Therapy Association and several other publishers. Dr. Urfer is the physical therapy consultant to the Scoliosis Screening Project in Southeast Idaho and serves on the board of the American Red Cross and the current campus HIPPA Steering Committee. He is a past President of the Northewest Region of the American College of Sports Medicine and has held numerous other positions on health care advisory committees. He holds a dual appointment in the Department of Biology. He has been chair of the department since 1991 and is continually active in the promotion of physical and occupational therapy curricula and activities.
Research Interests
His current interests are focused on case study approaches to patient treatment intervention, and ergonomic analysis.
