Using the Disability Services Testing Room
The Disability Services' testing room provides a safe, quiet environment for students with disabilities who need to take tests. It is in Rendezvous 127, next door to the main Disability Services office in 125. See our location page for more information
Scheduling a Test
Testing accommodation sheets must be completed and delivered to Disability Services at least two (2) days prior to exam time. Also, the test MUST be scheduled by the student with Disability Services no later than two (2) days prior to exam time. For final exams, schedule your test as soon as you find out when it is. If delay in delivery of the Testing Accommodation Sheet is expected, please contact Disability Services and the professor.
If the student does not arrive within 15 minutes of the scheduled starting time for a test, the test will not be administered and will be returned to the instructor.
If prompt arrival is not possible or an emergency takes place, please contact professor and Disability Services as soon as possible.
Students may not start testing at a different time than that which the instructor has indicated on the Testing Accommodation Sheet, unless prior approval of the instructor has been obtained.
If the testing date changes after submission of the Testing Accommodation Sheet, Disability Services must have instructor confirmation/approval.
Testing Room Use Policies
The following are the most relevant testing room use policies:
- The testing room is monitored at all times by security cameras with audio pick-up. These cameras may record.
- No cell phones, pagers or other personal data devices may be used during testing or allowed in the testing room. These items will be stored and held by Disability Services staff during testing.
- Any ringers or alarms must be turned off or set to vibrate.
- If testing requires the use of blue books or loose-leaf paper for essay completion, Disability Services will examine them prior to being used.
- All instances of academic dishonesty that takes place in Disability Services will be immediately reported to the faculty member.

Students Using Readers
The following are the most relevant policies for students with the accommodation of a test reader:
- The reader and student must conduct the examination session in a manner that supports the academic integrity of the professor and Disability Services at all times.
- The reader may be requested to reread a question but may not offer clarification. If clarification of an exam question is a problem for the student, he/she may write a brief explanation of his understanding of the question or the reader may assist the student in contacting the professor.
- If the integrity of the exam is in question, the exam will be removed immediately and the professor promptly notified.
- The student must not make inappropriate requests of the reader, such as asking a reader to provide information related to an examination question, engaging the reader in extraneous conversations during exams, or asking a reader to fill out forms for them using his/her own judgment.
- If a student makes an inappropriate request of a reader, the reader must submit a written incident report to Disability Services Director.
- Disability Services Director will determine what action needs to be taken with the student. Serious incidents will be reported promptly to the professor.
- All readers for exams will be assigned by Disability Services; any use of personal readers or scribes for examinations must be approved by the ADA Director and the professor.
Repeated or serious warnings may result in the student being referred to the Judicial Board. Questions about exams can be rerouted to the professor after the exam has been taken, or during the exam if the professor is easily reached.
