Director of the Anderson Center since September 2002, Rebecca’s background is in Anthropology. She was awarded her Ph.D. from SUNY – Buffalo where she wrote a dissertation on marital breakdown among working-class women in Dublin, Ireland, based on an 18-month fieldwork stay. During the 2001-02 academic year, Rebecca was a Fulbright Fellow to Lithuania. In her free time she enjoys travel, museums and hanging out with her cat. Her favorite thing about Pocatello is that it’s sunny about 99% of the time. |

Major: Fine Arts
Minor: Women’s Studies and Mass Communication
Anderson Center: Women’s History Month Student Assistant
Interests:
My main interests are creating awareness and understanding of subgroups. I am the president of LGBTSA at Idaho State University. I strive to bring tolerance to the world. When I am not trying to conquer the world I enjoy hiking, camping, and just basically anything outdoors. I love art and photography! I also love my dogs (two pit bulls, Simionce and Indi, and one mutt, Sophie). My favorite time is when I am getting tattoos, and I love homemade meals. (So I do cook a lot). My mother is my biggest inspiration, and she pushes me to fulfill my goals. |
Åsa Burlin
Anderson Center: AmeriCorps Service Member
About:
She moved to Pocatello the fall of 2010 with her Idahoan husband and has found that if southern Idaho only had some water, she’d really enjoy living here. A native Swede, she likes the snow and you’d be likely to see her at Pebble during the ski season. Åsa also enjoys running, biking and eating pickled foods. She is less fond of peanut butter, baseball and scary movies. She is currently working on her second master’s degree and hopes to one day teach English as a second language.

Major: Nursing
Anderson Center: Student Assistant
About:
I am from Lava Hot Springs, a small town just south of Pocatello. Being from Lava, I enjoy almost everything that deals with water, whether it be hot-tubbing, rafting, waterslides, or diving boards. I also enjoy riding dirt bikes, rock climbing, disc golf, pottery, and occasionally playing the harp. I am part of the honors program here at ISU. I love to travel, outside of the United States I’ve been to Tahiti, Australia, and Mexico. One day I hope to be a travelling nurse to help people in underdeveloped countries receive health care. |
