Sara became interested in stream ecology as an undergraduate working as "grunt" labor for graduate students at UCA. Her own undergraduate project looked at the effects of drought on stream invertebrate communities. Sara completed her Masters Degree at ISU working with Doc Minshall, and went on to work as a lecturer in the department and continue to assist in the Stream Ecology Center. In recent years she has worked as an environmental consultant on a range of projects in the southeastern U.S. Aquatic invertebrate taxonomy is one of Sara's passions (she especially loves Tardigrades!).
