Matt graduated with a Bachelorís degree in Earth and Environmental studies at Idaho State University in 2010. He then spent several years as a field and lab technician working in Idahoís beautiful and unique back-country and surrounding national forests. During this time, he developed skills snorkeling, gathering and processing invertebrate samples, and identifying riparian spiders. He formally began his Masterís project with Dr. Colden Baxter in 2013. He is, currently, investigating factors responsible for variation in production of invertebrates and fish in tributaries of Big Creek in the Frank Church Wilderness of No Return in Idaho. Born and raised in southern Idaho, Mattís favorite activities include: fishing, hunting, rock hounding, hiking, rafting, and exploring new areas of Idaho he hasn't seen yet.
