This is a list of all the scholarships generally announced through the ISU Scholarship Office. Please keep in mind that these scholarships only open up for application during particular times of the year. Refer to the description to see the typical times they're open for application and/or where to find more information. This list is sorted by college, then by eligible majors or types of eligible students.

Arts and Sciences Majors DOW CHEMICAL COMPANY - One scholarship awarded annually to a student majoring in the Arts & Sciences field. Contact the College of Arts and Sciences Deans Office for more information.
Arts and Sciences Majors ELEANOR LOSCALZO, COLLEGE OF ARTS & SCIENCES - Renewable scholarship awarded to undergraduate students in any major within the College of Arts & Sciences. Awards based on academic merit & financial need. Opens for application in March.
Arts and Sciences Majors EARL SWANSON MEMORIAL - Annual award made to a student majoring in the College of Arts & Sciences. Minimum 3.00 cumulative gpa required, as well as a 3.00 gpa in the last semester completed. Awarded in the Spring. Opens for application in September.
Arts and Sciences Majors DR. MICHIHIDE D. TOTOKI - Awarded to Juniors or Seniors enrolled in the College of Arts & Sciences, who demonstrate financial need & have worked to pay their educational expenses. Scholarship is renewable. Opens for application in March.
Biology/Physical Science Majors WILLIAM DEE WHITEHEAD MEMORIAL - A scholarship given to Idaho residents majoring in Biology or Physical Science or other related scientific fields. Opens for application in March.
Drama or Speech Majors WILMA CURTIS JONES - Awarded to a student enrolled in the Department of Speech & Drama. Contact major department for more information.
Pre-Med DOUGLAS & JOY HEINER - A scholarship awarded to a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior student preparing for medical school with a minimum 3.50 cumulative gpa. It is renewable for up to two additional years. Contact the College of Arts and Sciences Dean's Office for more information.

Anthropology TERI HALL MEMORIAL - One scholarship awarded annually to a deserving student majoring in Anthropology. Must be a full-time student with a minimum 2.00 cumulative gpa. Contact major department for more information.
Art JOHN B. DAVIS ART - One or more scholarships offered annually to students majoring or minoring in Art. Students must demonstrate motivation & creative ability as shown in a portfolio of slides or original works. Planning & direction are to be explained in a brief written personal statement outlining interests & goals. Applicants must have a minimum 2.50 cumulative gpa, & be accepted for matriculation at Idaho State University. Contact major department for more information.
Art MARKY HINSON - Award made to a female student who intends to enroll or is enrolled in studio courses in the ISU Art Department. Selection is made by Department faculty or a committee appointed by the Chair. Applicant must present a portfolio & demonstrate intent to continue creating art work. Financial need may also be considered. Awards contingent on available funding. Contact major department for more information.
Art ROBIE ROBISON VISUAL ARTS - Awarded to an Idaho high school graduate interested in or majoring in visual arts. Applicants must demonstrate academic ability & leadership potential. Must be a U.S. citizen. Minimum 2.50 cumulative gpa required. Contact major department for more information.
Biology BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES - One or more scholarships awarded annually to students majoring in Biology who demonstrate motivation, leadership, & academic potential. Minimum 3.00 cumulative gpa required. Apply using the Combined Biological Sciences Scholarship Application. Opens for application in February.
Biology EDSON FICHTER ENDOWMENT IN WILDLIFE ECOLOGY - Annual award to a student currently enrolled in the ISU Department of Biological Sciences. 2.50 minimum cumulative gpa required. Preference given to students interested in wildlife ecology. Apply using the Combined Biological Sciences Scholarship Application. Opens for application in February.
Biology DR. BARRY L. KELLER MEMORIAL - Award to a graduate student enrolled in the ISU Department of Biological Sciences. Recipients of this award shall be involved in the study of ecology, environmental sciences, or field biology. Award based upon academic merit. Apply using the Combined Biological Sciences Scholarship Application. Opens for application in February.

Ecology ALBERT BURCH STRAHAN MEMORIAL - Scholarships offered to Juniors or Seniors majoring in Ecology, Wildlife, or Stream-Ecology. Recipients must be Idaho residents. Apply using the Combined Biological Sciences Scholarship Application. Opens for application in February.

Journalism JUANITA RODRIGUEZ - A scholarship for a student studying Journalism with the intention of becoming a working journalist. Must be a full-time Junior or Senior student with a minimum 2.70 cumulative gpa. Preference to minorities and women. Contact major department for more information.

Music RUTH S. PHOENIX MEMORIAL - Award to a student interested in the field of Music as demonstrated by current participation in musical activities at ISU. Must be in good academic standing. Contact major department for more information.
Music SPAULDING FOUNDATION JAZZ - Awards made to students participating in the ISU Jazz Band or other organizations under the direction & auspices of the ISU Department of Music. Contact major department for more information.
Physics MEADOWS MEMORIAL - Awarded annually to a student majoring or planning to major in Physics who demonstrates motivation & academic potential. U.S. citizenship required. Contact major department for more information.
Political Science VERDA WHITE BARNES MEMORIAL - A renewable scholarship awarded to an Idaho Resident, Junior or Senior feminist with a minimum 3.00 cumulative gpa who shows financial need. Preference is given to Political Science majors. Opens for application in February.
Political Science F.M. BISTLINE POLITICAL SCIENCE MEMORIAL &THE BEVERLY B. BISTLINE POLITICAL SCIENCE - Both scholarships awarded annually to a Senior, Political Science major (one male, one female) Must have a 3.00 cumulative gpa & have expressed a goal of attending law school. Opens for application in February.
Pre-Law CARL K. DAVIS - Offered for married students with preference to students who are emphasizing Pre-Law as their major. Opens for application in January.
Pre-Law YVONNE DIAL MEMORIAL - One scholarship given annually to a married Junior or Senior Pre-Law major with a minimum 3.0 cumulative gpa. Applicant's spouse must be assisting the student in meeting the financial burden of attending the university. Opens for application in January.
Pre-Law PETER A., PATRICIA L., AND PETER D. MCDERMOTT - One scholarship given annually to a full-time Junior or Senior Pre-Law major with a minimum 2.50 cumulative gpa. Preference to students from Bannock County. Opens for application in March.
Sociology Majors SARRAF/DUNCAN SOCIOLOGY - Bi-annual award made to a Junior or Senior Sociology major with a minimum 2.50 cumulative gpa who demonstrates motivation, academic & leadership potential. Contact major department for more information.

MBA/Accounting Majors M.T. & JENNIE H. DEATON - One or more scholarships for qualified male & female students. Preference will be given to Idaho residents who have been admitted into the College of Business at senior or graduate student levels in the Accounting program. Education Majors, Jr./Sr. or Grad ALPHA DELTA KAPPA - Varying amounts awarded by several chapters to Junior or Senior students majoring in Education. Minimum 2.80 cumulative gpa, & evidence of financial need required. Opens for application in February.
Education Majors JERRY J. & ELNER C. BELLON - Awarded to Idaho residents accepted into the Teacher Education Program. Preference given to students: (a) with the greatest financial need; (b)displaying leadership abilities through employment or involvement in community service or student organizations; (c)whose written statement reflect social conscience and respect for diversity. Examples of diversity include students with special needs, different ethnic, political, and religious groups and issues of gender equity; (d)who are committed to working with children beyond traditional instructional settings, e.g. co-curricular activities, clubs, and special programs. Opens for application in December.
Education Majors BABE CACCIA - Awarded to Idaho residents in the Teacher Education program. Preference given to students: (a)with the greatest financial need; (b)displaying leadership abilities through employment or involvement in community service or student organizations; (c)whose written statement reflects social conscience and respect for diversity. Examples of diversity include students with special needs, different ethnic, political, and religious groups and issues of gender equity; (d)who are committed to working with children beyond traditional instructional settings, e.g. co-curricular activities, clubs, and special programs; (e)pursuing coaching in educational settings or those who have made coaching and interscholastic athletics an important part of their goals and objectives; (f)athletes who have completed their eligibility and are within 30 hours of graduation. Education Majors DAUGHERTY FOUNDATION - One or more scholarships offered annually to Education majors at Junior level or above (including graduate students) pursuing an Elementary or Secondary Education major. Minimum 3.50 cumulative gpa required. Must be an Idaho resident. Apply using the Combined Education Application. Opens for application in December.
Education Majors, Jr. & Sr. DELTA KAPPA GAMMA, VARIOUS CHAPTERS - One or more scholarships offered annually to a female Junior or Senior accepted into the Teacher Education Program (can be an Education major or enrolled in another college & obtaining certification). Applications available from the ISU Scholarship Office. Variable deadlines. Contact your local chapter. Opens for application in February.
Education Majors DISTINGUISHED TEACHER - One or more scholarships awarded to students admitted to the Teacher Education program in ISU's College of Education. To be considered, a candidate must submit evidence establishing himself/herself as a potential distinguished teacher. Evidence can include, but is not limited to, a portfolio of work, video tape of actual teaching methods and procedures, actual lesson plans, pre- and post-test evaluations, or letters of recommendation from administrators or supervisors. Education Majors EASTERN IDAHO REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER NATIVE AMERICAN IN EDUCATION - Student must be an enrolled Native American in the Shoshone/Bannock tribes and be an undergraduate Education major with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Apply using the Combined Education Application. Opens for application in December.
Education Majors EDUCATION INCENTIVE LOAN FORGIVENESS PROGRAM - Eligible students are those who (1) are within the upper 15% of the graduating class or have a cumulative 3.0 grade point average, (2) have been formally admitted into the Teacher Education program & (3) are pursuing a program of study qualifying the student to receive an Idaho teaching certificate. Education Majors must pursue a teaching career within the State of Idaho for a minimum of two years upon obtaining a teaching certificate. Apply using the Combined Education Application. Education Majors GATES MINORITY & INTERNATIONAL FUTURE EDUCATORS - Scholarship for undergraduate Education students who are in one of the under-represented ethnic groups or international students who demonstrate commitment to their academic program and the profession of teaching. Education Majors DIANNE W. HOLMES - An annual award to a full time Education major who has demonstrated financial need. Apply using the Combined Education Application. Opens for application in December.

Education Majors PETER C. KOLE-RICHARD BOWEN - Scholarship awarded to Juniors or Seniors who are doing their student teaching. Preference to applicants who are children of single parents, single parents with children, or non-traditional students. Apply using the Combined Education Application. Education Majors PETER C. KOLE-DONALD J. SAMPSON - Scholarship awarded to Juniors or Seniors with first preference to those doing their student teaching during the award period.
