Scholarship Information - New Freshmen
As an incoming freshman, you will be considered for the many scholarships that ISU has to offer as long as you meet our February 15th application deadline. We must have your completed application for admission, high school transcript (6 to 7 semester transcript will be sufficient for scholarship consideration, but you will need to have a final transcript sent to ISU upon graduation for completion of the admissions process), and ACT or SAT scores by that deadline. Your application for admission serves as your scholarship application. To view a list of scholarships for which incoming freshmen are automatically considered, click here. There are a few scholarships for incoming freshmen that require a separate application. Please see the list below for more information.
Your eligibility for incoming freshman scholarships will be based on your ranking among other applicants in the pool. To rank you, we consider your high school GPA and your ACT or SAT score. Some scholarships are based on specific majors and some will require the recipient to have resided in Idaho for at least three years or be from a certain county in Idaho. We also have some incoming freshman awards that are based on leadership, talent and extracurricular involvement. We will look at all of these criteria when we consider you for our incoming freshman scholarships.
Some scholarship awarding is based on demonstrated financial need. To be considered for any need-based awards, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Priority processing of financial aid (FAFSA) applications begins on March 1st each year. Some types of financial aid are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Therefore, it's a good idea to submit your FAFSA by the priority processing deadline. The FAFSA is available online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/. If you need assistance with the FAFSA, please contact the ISU Financial Aid Office at (208) 282-2756.
