Accomplishments

Idaho State’s Ph.D. program in clinical psychology receives top ranking   (click link to view article)

The Psychology Department is pleased to announce that all five of its 2009 applicants for national clinical interships were successfully matched at member sites of the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC).  All five sites are accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). At the national level, only 85% of applicants are placed each year.  The Clinical Training Program's accumulated percentage of placecments is 95%, or 10% above the availability percentage.


Funding and Awards


In November of 2008, Drs. Michelle Brumley, Tera Letzring, and Kathleen McCulloch were awarded a total of $23,361 from the Women Empowered to Learn, Educate, Advance, and Develop (WeLEAD), which is supported by the National Science Foundation.

Also this year, Dr. Erin Rasmussen was granted $30,000, Dr. Maria Wong received $14,000, and Dr. Nicole Prause received $14,786 from WELEAD for their research.

Drs. Shannon Lynch, Nicole Prause and Erin Rasmussen also secured additional internal funds ranging from $5,000 to $20,000 from internal granting mechanisms such as the Humanities and Social Sciences Research Committee and the Faculty Research Committee.

Dr. Tony Cellucci will be recognized by ISU for his outstanding record of public service!  He will be honored at an awards reception on April 9th, 2009 and will be considered for the Distinguished Public Service award!

Dr. Maria Wong will be recognized by ISU as one of its outstanding researchers for this year!  She will also be honored at an awards reception on April 9th, 2009 and will be considered for the Distinguished Researcher award!

Dr Erin Rasmussen was recently elected to serve as the President of the Four Corners Association for Behavior Analysis (ABA).

Dr. Maria Wong secured an R21 grant for $249,652 from the National Institutes of Health to examine the relationship between sleep disturbances in childhood and the onset of substance use and abuse in adolescence.

Dr. Nicole Prause was awarded $98,500 from the Alcohol Beverage Medical Research Foundation to examine decision making and risk taking behaviors as they relate to alcohol use and physiological arousal during reproductive interactions.
