Profile
Dr. Molly York is currently the Flute Instructor at Idaho State University and Principal Flute in the Idaho State Civic Symphony. She holds a Doctorate of Music Arts degree and a Master of Music Degree from Texas Tech University and a Bachelor of Music degree from Grand Valley State University.
As a specialist in hand position techniques, Dr. York published an article, “The Petite Player: Hand position adjustments for the small player” in the September 2004 issue of “Flute Talk” and has been a clinician, teaching her techniques at Texas Tech University’s annual “Flute Festival”.
Dr. York has worked as a personal flute instructor in which she sustains a growing studio that serves Eastern Idaho. She was also invited by several area schools to conduct clinics for their flute students.
Early in her career, Dr. York set up a scholarship program for the Jenison Public School District in Jenison, Michigan. Funds for this program are raised annually at a benefit concert in which proceeds go to an advanced musician who is pursuing music as a career.
Dr. York is a member of the National Flute Association.
Her teachers include Dr. Lisa Garner Santa, Judith Kemph, Julie Sooy and Lynn Zick, and masterclass performances with Carol Wincenc and Rhonda Larson.
