*The Piano Proficiency Requirement must be met. If a student cannot pass the proficiency exam, he or she must take Class Piano (118-119 or 218-219) courses at the appropriate level until MUSC 219 is passed with a grade of "C-" or better. Students must register concurrently for Class Piano with MUSC 103-104 and 203-204.
**Field Experience. MUSC 338 Field Experience in Music Education must be taken concurrently with either MUSC 334 Choral Music Methods or MUSC 335 Instrumental Music Methods.
***Senior Recital. Students are expected to participate in chamber ensembles during their degree program. A chamber work is required on the senior recital.
****Goal 10A. B.M.E. students may choose Goal 10A Other Cultures (3 cr) or Goal 10B Foreign Language (8 cr). Students whose applied major is voice are encouraged to take Goal 10B Foreign Language.
Admission to the Teacher Education Program
Students must make formal application for admission to the Teacher Education Program. Application forms are available in the Student Academic Advising Center of the College of Education. Students may not register for Education courses numbered 300 and above until full admittance to the Teacher Education Program in the College of Education is achieved. Music Education majors should apply for admission during the Junior year. Specific requirements for admission are available in the ISU Undergraduate Catalog.
