Profile

Dr. Erika Schulte serves as Coordinator of Music Education. She teaches courses in music education, supervises music student teachers, teaches violin and viola, and serves as faculty advisor for the student chapter of MENC.

Dr. Schulte has considerable teaching experience in public school, both at the secondary and elementary levels. She has directed public school orchestra programs in New Mexico and Utah, and taught at the elementary school level in Maryland. She also served as the Music Education Director for the D.C. Youth Orchestra. She has also taught as a visiting instructor at St. Mary's College in Maryland, and as a graduate assistant at the Ohio State University.

As a violinist Dr. Schulte brings considerable professional experience to ISU. She has played with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, and the Delaware Symphony Orchestra, among others. She now plays with the Idaho State Civic Symphony.
