Dr. Cha has served as the concertmaster of the Idaho State-Civic Symphony since winning the position in August 2011.  She is an adjunct instructor of music at Idaho State University.  Her teaching duties include applied violin and viola and other music courses including string methods, elements of music, and is the director of the student chamber orchestra.  Dr. Cha was on the faculty at Dongduk Women’s University, Sungshin Women’s University, and Dankuk University in Seoul, South Korea, and was also a Teaching Assistant of Professor Castleman at Eastman School of Music while she was pursing her doctoral degree in performance and literature.  Dr. Cha was awarded scholarships from music festivals at Kneisel Hall, Castleman Quartet Program, The Philadelphia International Music Festival, and the Lydian String Quartet Festival.  Dr. Cha has given numerous concerts as a soloist and chamber musician in Korea and the United States, and has performed with Binghamton Philharmonic, Cayuga Chamber Orchestra, Cornell Contemporary Chamber Players, Han-Eum Chamber Ensemble, and the Seoul Tutti Ensemble.  She studied violin with Hyo Kang, Masuko Ushioda, Charels Castleman, and Chee-Yun. Her chamber music studies include Katherine Murdock, Eric Shumsky, Stephen Drury, James Dunham, Lucy Stolzman, Norman Fisher, Alan Harris, Malcome Bilson, Andres Diaz, Boromeo String Quartet, Ying Quartet and Lydian Quartet.  As an orchestral musician, Dr. Cha has had the privilege of playing under maestros David Effron, Robert Shaw and Stainslaw Skrowaczewski.

An enthusiastic music educator, Dr. Cha has taught pre-collegiate students for over fifteen years, served on the summer faculty of Belvoir Terrace in MA and teaches at the summer strings program through the Idaho State-Civic Symphony.  Her students have received scholarships and awards from colleges and graduate schools across the US and many received Exemplary Musician Awards & Highest Ranks from Texas State Solo and Ensemble Festivals.  Many of her younger students have also served as principal players in various youth orchestras throughout the US.
