Profile

Prior to coming to ISU, Dr. Hasenpflug held teaching posts at Drake University, the University of South Dakota, and Emporia State University. He has performed as a member of numerous symphonies, including acting as principal timpanist in the South Dakota Symphony. He also fronts the Hasenproject percussion group, whose album Compercussions has received critical acclaim. Locally, he has performed as soloist with the Idaho Falls Symphony and as a featured drumset artist with the Idaho State Civic Symphony.

Dr. Hasenpflug is nationally recognized as a performer and educator, while his compositions for percussion receive international recognition and are played all over the world. He has presented clinics and masterclasses at many universities, such as the University of Texas, UMKC, the University of Central Arkansas, and others. He has also acted as clinician for several Percussive Arts Society chapter days of percussion. As a composer, he has received top awards in the PAS composition contest as well as the Louis Smadbeck prize. Recent international performances of his works have occurred in London, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Dublin, Rio de Janiero, Venezuela, and Sweden, by various noted percussion groups.

His percussion works are published on the KP3 (Malletech), Media Press, and Panyard labels, as well as his own label, "Hasenworks." He is a member of ASCAP and the Percussive Arts Society.
