Profile

Dr. Anderson returns this year as Director of Choral Activities at Idaho State University, a position he held from 1992-2003. Dr. Anderson conducts the ISU Chamber Choir, Concert Choir, Camerata Singers, Portneuf Chamber Singers, and teaches Choral Conducting and voice.

While at the Conservatory of Music at the University of Missouri-Kansas City (2003-2005), Dr. Anderson was the Raymond Neevel/Missouri Endowed Professor of Choral Music, where he led the graduate Choral Conducting program and conducted the Conservatory Chamber Choir. Dr. Anderson's research into the movement theories of Rudolf von Laban and Jacques-Emile Dalcroze served as the focus of a unique and individualized approach to choral conducting.

Choirs under Dr. Anderson's direction have traveled throughout the United State, Europe, and South America. As Director of Choral Activities at Idaho State University, Anderson has led the Idaho State University Chamber Choir and Camerata Singers on performance tours of Poland, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Brazil, England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Italy, Greece, Austria, Germany, Hungary, Spain, and Portugal.

Dr. Anderson also serves as the Artistic Director for the Idaho International Choir Festival, a biannual event where choral groups from around the world join together in Pocatello, Idaho for a week of choral performances, conducting master classes and artistic and cultural exchange. He has served the American Choral Directors Association in state, divisional, and national offices, and has been featured as guest conductor, lecturer and teacher throughout the United States and abroad.

Dr. Anderson received Idaho State University's "Master Teacher" and "Outstanding Public Service" awards in 1995, 1996 and 1999.
