Contrary to the mythological record, most people came into southeastern Idaho not by wagon but rather by train. The first railroad line to enter Idaho came in 1874 when fantastic prices for food and supplies in the Montana gold mines stimulated the building of a narrow gauge railway out of Cache Valley and into southern Idaho Territory.
