Rick Davis began his newspaper career at the Arizona Daily Star in Tucson, where he served as a reporter and sports copy editor from 1967 to 1972. He joined the Idaho State Journal staff in 1976 and has worked full and part time since as a reporter and copy editor. He is also the journalism advisor and English department chairperson at Pocatello High and advises the school's newspaper. In 1999, he was selected as Idaho Journalism Teacher of the Year. He is a regular presenter at state and national scholastic journalism conventions. He teaches copy editing for the print media at ISU.
