John Couper, Ph.D, Professer, Public Relations
Professor Couper John Couper recently joined the Department to teach Public Relations and Journalism courses. He had lived in the mountainous Central Asian republic of Kyrgyzstan, where he was a professor and consultant for two years. He has traveled and worked around the world, learning as many languages as possible, living with monkeys and hitchhiking across several continents. This might prepare him for working in public relations and advertising, as well as in print and broadcast journalism. His main research interests are how people "make sense" of the media, popular culture, and international communication. He looks forward to enjoying the area's outdoor activities and social and cultural events.
