Developing Lesson Plan Objectives and Bridges
Two key elements in an effective lesson are a well formed and clearly stated objective and a bridge that makes a connection with the adult learner. The purpose of the bridge is to attach previously studied material to new material and to allow diverse learners to find something in the new material that they can personally relate to, which gives them the opportunity to retain and apply the information and techniques covered in the lesson.
To assist in understanding the importance of a clearly stated objective and bridges in your lessons here are two posts from Dr. R. Kolody of the ISU HRTD program. Use them to evaluate and create your own objectives and bridges. To download right click the link and select 'Save Target As'
