Application Requirements and Admission Process

Admission Requirements:

The following admission requirements must be met prior to beginning the Dietetic Internship:

  1. GPA of 3.00 or above on a 4.0 scale.
  2. Bachelor of Science Degree.
  3. Verification statement of DPD courses

Work experience in food service or health care is desirable, but not mandatory for admission.

Application Process:

The application deadline is February 15th. Applications will not be reviewed until all application materials have been received.

Applicants must apply through the February D&D Digital Computer Match in addition to applying to the university. Notification of appointment will be given on the D&D Digital Computer Matching designated dates in April.

Applicants should request instructions and a mark/sense card to prioritize their DI preferences. Applicants should request this material from any ADA-approved Didactic Program in Dietetics or from D&D Digital Systems. This request should be made to allow processing time for submission by postmark deadlines.

There is no charge for this material. However, there is a $50.00 charge paid to D&D Digital Systems for computer matching that should be included with computer match card.

Application Checklist

Applications must include the following:

  1. A completed Idaho State University Application form (.pdf)
  2. A completed Dietetic Internship application form (.doc)
  3. Three letters of recommendation (at least two from university faculty where you received your degree in dietetics). Recommendations should be included in the application packet in signed, sealed, envelopes. DO NOT SEND MORE THAN THREE.
  4. A typed letter of application stating the reasons for selecting dietetics as a career, professional goals, and reasons for applying to the Idaho State University Dietetic Internship.
  5. Official transcripts from all universities attended.
  6. Declaration of Intent to Complete Degree or DPD verification statement. These forms can be obtained from your DPD Program Director.
  7. A non-refundable application fee of $50.00*. (Make check payable to: Department of Health and Nutrition Sciences)
    1. If you are applying to both the Pocatello and Boise internships, you must pay two application fees for a total of $100.00.

*PLEASE NOTE: Those interns ACCEPTED to the program are required to submit a $1000 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT. The $1000 will be applied toward the class fee at the time of registration. (Please DO NOT send this deposit with your application!) It is NOT required to send a $40 application fee for ISU Admissions. The department will take care of the admissions application fees for all candidates selected.
